Overview
The Boston Scholar Athlete (BSA) program is committed to
improving the academic excellence of students through an improved
athletic experience, referred to as Education Based Athletics.
Through collaboration with the Boston Public Schools
Superintendent's Office, Headmasters, Athletic Department, and
Coaches; the BSA is confident that all BPS scholar-athletes are
capable of achieving their athletic and academic potentials.
On the athletic level, the BSA serves over 3,000+ scholar-athletes
and their coaches. For those students, the mission is to provide
the best possible athletic outlet for them through upgraded
uniforms and equipment, facilities, and coaching. Teams and
individual scholar-athletes perform better in settings and
situations that are conducive to a positive athletic experience.
BSA is focused on making those situations available for all
scholar-athletes.
The BSA recognizes that to guarantee the best possible experience,
coaches must also be supported. To facilitate the 150+ coaches and
their staffs, the BSA has developed the Boston Scholar Athlete
Coaches Academy. The goal of the Academy is to
promote "Coaches as Mentors" through a curriculum of
free professional development, ranging from coaching
development and sport specific tactical training, MIAA and National
certifications, to cross-collaboration. This will ensure not
only that the goals of the BSA are being met, but that the coaches
and scholar-athletes are given the tools to achieve their goals, as
well.
