West Roxbury Athletes Give Back
On December 9, 2011, four scholar-athletes from the West Roxbury Educational Complex’s football team spent the day giving back to their community. Aaron Higginbottom, Jeremy Cunningham, Muller Mirville and Michael Russell gave up their Saturday to go to the Pine Street Inn to wrap presents for those less fortunate. In total, the four boys wrapped over 750 presents throughout the day which included sweaters, hats, gloves and toys.
As a senior and the starting quarterback for the West Roxbury football team, Muller Mirville is a very visible leader among the study body and he hopes that more scholar-athletes in his school will take part in community service opportunities in the future. “The day of community service was a great experience and it made me see how one project of giving back can affect an entire community,” said Mirville.
The Boston Scholar Athlete Program encourages each of its Zones to take part in community service. It has proven to be an enriching experience for all who get involved. Stay tuned for more exciting community service projects that the scholar-athletes of Boston will be taking part in throughout the year.
