The BSA Delivers Shooting Machines

In an effort to reward the hard work and dedication that both the scholar-athletes and coaches put in on a daily basis the Boston Scholar Athletes program has donated "The Gun" shooting machines to select teams. The BSA spent the first week in February delivering the shooting machine to the teams at Madison Park, Dorchester, Charlestown, New Mission and South Boston. The BSA will be donating these machines to all of the Boston Public High Schools over the next three years.

"The Gun" acts as an automatic rebounder, capturing the ball in a net and instantly rebounding a made or missed shot. With the machines’ timing device determining the distance and the speed of return passes, players can develop their shooting skills in a simulated game situation. "The Gun" can fire up to 1,800 shots per hour and will offer scholar-athletes the opportunity to greatly improve their shooting skills.

This initiative is one of many by the BSA in 2012 to help Boston’s scholar-athletes achieve excellence both on and off the court.
